Official Statement – Sport Jiu-Jitsu Canada Federation (SJJCANF)
The Sport Jiu-Jitsu Canada Federation (SJJCANF) formally acknowledges and welcomes USA Grappling as the officially recognized National Federation for the United States under the Sport Jiu-Jitsu International Federation (SJJIF), effective February 2026.
This designation represents a significant and positive development in the continued organization and international alignment of Sport Jiu-Jitsu and grappling across North America. USA Grappling assumes an important leadership role in the administration of the sport within the United States, including the governance of competition structures under SJJIF rules, the sanctioning of events, and the identification and preparation of national team athletes for participation in continental and world championships.
As a recognized national federation operating within the broader framework of USA Wrestling, and as the official United States representative to United World Wrestling (UWW) for grappling, USA Grappling brings considerable institutional strength, reach, and credibility to this role. Its ongoing efforts in athlete development, national team programming, event expansion, and the advancement of collegiate grappling reflect a strong commitment to the growth and sustainability of the sport.
SJJCANF views this milestone as an important step toward greater unity within the international grappling community. We look forward to working collaboratively with USA Grappling as partner national federations in support of aligned governance, enhanced athlete pathways, and the continued development of Sport Jiu-Jitsu at both the national and international levels.
