The Road to the Canadian Open Begins

On June 27 in Ottawa, history will be made.

The inaugural Canadian Open International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Championship will crown Canada’s first-ever internationally recognized, world-ranked national champions—marking a defining moment in the evolution of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in this country.

This is more than a tournament. It is the launch of a true national pathway.

For the first time, Canada’s BJJ athletes will be part of a structured journey—from local mats, to regional competition, to a national stage that connects directly to elite international events. The Canadian Open stands at the pinnacle of that pathway: where the country’s best rise, collide, and prove they belong on the world stage.

The road to Ottawa doesn’t begin in June—it is forged through months of competition across Canada. Each event builds momentum. Each match sharpens the field. Each athlete earns their place.

And then, it all converges.

On June 27, the nation’s top competitors will meet in what promises to be the most significant Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu event ever held in Canada.

This inaugural championship signals the beginning of something far greater—a national standard, a unifying stage, and a gateway to the world. With eyes already set on the 2026 World Cup and World Jiu-Jitsu Championships in Tokyo, performances here will shape the future of Canadian BJJ and identify the athletes who will carry our flag internationally.

The pathway is here.
The standard is set.
The road to the Canadian Open begins now.
