Women and Girls in Jiu-Jitsu

The Sport Jiu-Jitsu Canadian Association and Federation (SJJCANF) is committed to advancing gender equity in sport and supporting the meaningful participation of women and girls at every level of jiu-jitsu in Canada.

We recognize the important role sport plays in building confidence, leadership, mentorship, and community, and we strive to ensure that women and girls have equitable opportunities to participate, compete, coach, officiate, and lead within the sport.

SJJCANF works to promote gender equity by:

  • Encouraging participation pathways for women and girls from grassroots through high-performance sport

  • Supporting mentorship and leadership opportunities for women in coaching, officiating, and sport governance

  • Promoting safe, inclusive, and respectful sport environments free from discrimination and harassment

  • Highlighting and celebrating the achievements of women athletes representing Canada in jiu-jitsu

  • Supporting initiatives that reduce barriers to participation for women and girls in sport

Through these efforts, SJJCANF seeks to strengthen the development of the next generation of women leaders and athletes while contributing to a sport community that reflects the diversity, talent, and potential of women across Canada.
